1IS CHOOSING THE RIGHT LAB IMPORTANT FOR MY DIAGNOSIS?
Over 70% of the clinical decisions are based on lab results hence your doctor will require accurate results which shall guide them for proper management and treatment of your clinical condition. Hence it is important to make sure that your lab provides the highest quality results.
2WHAT DOES MY DOCTOR MEAN WHEN THEY TELL ME TO "FAST" BEFORE GETTING MY BLOOD TEST DONE?
Some blood tests are more accurate when you have not eaten any food or had anything to drink except water before we draw your blood. Normally, you should not eat after you have finished your evening meal and schedule your test early the next morning. If you are taking medications that require food please ask your doctor before you skip a dose.
3DO ALL TESTS REQUIRE FASTING?
Not all tests require a fasting state. Tests like lipid profile and fasting glucose levels require fasting of approximately 8 to 12 hours. You should have an overnight fasting. Drinking water during this period is allowed and you should take your medication which you normally would, unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
4WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING FOR MY TEST?
You need to bring with you your test requisition form. Routine self testing is also possible upon request at the counter.
5DO I STILL TAKE MY MEDICATION?
Your doctor will advise if you are to stop taking your medication. Please check with your doctor if you are unsure.
6DO I NEED TO FAST FOR DOING JUST MY HBA1C TEST?
There is no need to fast for doing you HbA1c test.
7IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LABS?
Though every lab strives to provide accurate lab results, not every lab is the same. At Samyak Diagnostic we have the largest range of tests with ensured timely, accurate yet affordable results. We minimize splitting of samples and we make sure that most of the tests are done in-house.
8CAN I GO TO ANY LAB I WANT?
You are entitled to choose the lab you want to go to, but if your physician wants you to go to a particular lab, you will have to follow the advice. Physicians do suggest you for certain labs mainly due to the quality that they provide or their specialization in certain laboratory tests.
9WHERE IS YOUR LAB LOCATED?
We have only one lab at the moment which is located at Norkhang complex, second floor, besides Saint Xavier's high school, Jawalakhel, Lalitpur.
10CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE TESTS THAT I AM HAVING?
Sure. Our pathologists will be available from 7 am to 7 pm, and are ready to answer any queries that you have.
11AM I AT RISK OF CATCHING ANYTHING BY HAVING MY BLOOD DRAWN?
No….. The policy of Samyak Diagnostic is to utilize single use sterile equipments when taking blood samples from patients. No equipment that could cause infections is reused. Our specimen collection staff are well trained in infection control and shall ensure your safety.
12HOW DO I KNOW IF MY SAMPLE IS NOT MIXED UP IN THE LAB?
Our collection staff will confirm your details with you during phlebotomy. This is to ensure we have all the correct information. Each sample is carefully bar coded and labeled at the time of collection and you will be asked to check these labels. A laboratory number generated by the bar code machine is placed on your request form and samples to ensure they are not mixed up. This number is unique and assists to ensure that the correct tests are performed on each sample.
13WHO SIGNS OUR MY LABORATORY RESULTS?
Your laboratory results are authorized only by Pathologists and Microbiologists, to ensure quality results and clinical correlation.
14HOW SOON WILL MY DOCTOR GET MY LAB RESULTS?
This depends on what tests are ordered. Most routine outpatient tests are reported through email to your physician as soon as the test results are out. Microbiology and specialty testing may take several days to several weeks which shall be informed to your physician as and when results are obtained.
15HOW CAN I OBTAIN MY LAB RESULTS?
Once your tests are done, you shall receive an SMS alert which shall have the following information: website name: www.saymakdiagnostic.com along with your User name and Pass word. Once you visit our website you can go to report download and login with the provided user name and password. You will also receive a copy of your results through email, provided that you have written your email address while registering for your lab tests. You can collect the report from the lab if you wish to visit our pathologists and discuss certain results.
16WILL I HAVE TO WAIT LONG TO HAVE MY BLOOD DRAWN?
We help our patients on a first come, first served basis and we always do our best to have you in and out within 20-25 minutes. We try our level best to serve you on time. Rush hours may affect the waiting duration.
17WHY DO YOU AKS FOR MY PERSONAL INFORMATION MORE THAN ONCE?
This is done to ensure that you receive your own results- not someone else's. Verification of your personal information is done at various levels so that you are ensure that you always get the correct lab results.
18WHY DO YOU NEED MORE THAN ONE VIAL OF BLOOD?
Different vials are used for different tests which have been ordered by your physician. We ensure you that we only draw the minimum amount of sample required depending upon the tests to be performed.
19SHOULD I USE THE SAME LAB FOR ALL MY LAB WORK?
It is not mandatory to do all you tests at the same lab, but it is off course beneficial. We will have a record of all your test results which can be provided to you in a graphical form, where your specific test results can be analyzer easily by your attending physician.
20DO YOU HAVE HOME COLLECTION SERVICE? HOW CAN WE AVAIL IT?
We do have home collection service at Samyak Diagnostic. You will have to register and be a member of our home collection division. Becoming a member is free of cost. You will have to inform the laboratory one day prior to you collection date. No calls shall be attended on the same day for home collection, unless it is an emergency.
